New York Teams

Luke Voit on this series with Boston: "We don't want them to clinch here. They're our rival, and we're going to try to do everything we can. We've been cold as a team, and we haven't been our New York Yankees ... (With improving health) it's scary how good this team's going to be, and we're looking to do some damage when we get to the playoffs." Added Luis Severino: "It doesn't matter what the score says. They're going to win 100-something games, we're going to be behind them. We're going to grind until the end. Every game from here out, we're going to fight until the end."

OLB Olivier Vernon (ankle) still not practicing. CB Eli Apple (groin) also didn't practice and is still sore. Not overly encouraging news for the Giants defense entering a must-win game vs. Texans.

The Jets' 2017 draft took another hit, with the news Wednesday that WR ArDarius Stewart was waived. This means four of the nine picks are gone, including WR Chad Hansen (fourth), LB Dylan Donahue (fifth) and CB Jeremy Clark (sixth). You know what makes it worse? RB Kareem Hunt and WR Chris Godwin still were on the board when they picked Stewart. He seemed like a good fit in a West Coast offense because of his YAC skills, but he never embraced coaching. It'll be interesting to see if he returns on the practice squad.

Vikings didn't get the chance to sneak Stacy Coley back onto the practice squad. He's been claimed by the New York Giants, per a source, reuniting him with his rookie year offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

How important is it for the Yankees that Aroldis Chapman is coming off the DL? Consider this. He has 31 saves and two blown saves this season. The rest of the bullpen has blown 13 saves. New York's bullpen also had a 3.98 ERA after he went on the DL about a month ago. Prior to that, that ERA was 3.12.
