Whoa. Scottie Pippen says on ESPN's The Jump that Phil Jackson, his old coach, hasn't put the right pieces on the floor in New York and surmises that Phil should go. He also feels bad for Carmelo Anthony. We've heard that criticism from others but, coming from Pippen, it certainly carries some weight.

Didi Gregorius just told me that he expects to start throwing next week. Said he feels "no relief" that his injured shoulder does not need surgery since his only goal was to be in the Yankees starting lineup on Opening Day. Will be the first arm work Gregorius does after injuring his throwing shoulder during the WBC and having to start the season on the DL.

ESPN Stats and Information

This is the fourth straight season in which the New York Knicks failed to make the postseason. Dating back to the 2000-01 season, the Knicks have won one playoff series, tied with the Pelicans for the fewest by any franchise. New York's .418 win percentage in that span ranks third-worst in the NBA, ahead of only the Timberwolves and Hornets.

The Basketball Tournament, the $2 million winner-take-all summer tournament, will move from New York to Baltimore this year. Carmelo Anthony will host the tournament and played an active role in getting it to his hometown:

The Knicks will honor members of their 1999 NBA Finals team on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Larry Johnson, Allan Houston, Charlie Ward, Latrell Sprewell, Herb Williams, Kurt Thomas, Marcus Camby and Jeff Van Gundy are expected. The commemoration is part of the franchise's 70th anniversary. Several teams have been honored. Nothing has been announced yet regarding a commemoration for the 1994 Finals team.
