Kristaps Porzingis: "We want to finish the season halfway decent. We got to give our all now these last whatever games we have. Just for ourselves and to give the fans enjoyment just need to give everything we have. Hopefully we can get on a run. It's tough we haven't still found that connection where we can just play free and playing our basketball. We're still trying to find that."

Kristaps Porzingis sprained his ankle when he stepped on teammate Willy Hernangomez's foot. He plans to get further tests on the ankle Friday and was in a walking boot late Thursday night. Porzingis said his ankle 'swelled up' and 'it didn't feel too good.' He was unsure when he'd return. The Knicks play next on Saturday.

Even a die-hard Knicks fan has to find this line from Charles Barkley funny: "I was talking to Spike Lee at All Star Weekend, he's dying to get kicked out of the Garden. He don't wanna watch this s—t," Barkley said on TNT Thursday night.

Carmelo was asked if he understands management's vision for the future of the team. I'm paraphrasing, but he essentially said that he didn't.

After a day of deadline drama - and no trades - the Knicks come out and remind you why they are a team that's on the outside of the playoff race looking in. They were destroyed by the defending champs -- and the game wasn't close for most of the final three quarters. The Knicks are 12 games under .500 and have dropped eight of 10.

After shootaround this morning, Derrick Rose answered a few questions about the triangle offense. It doesn't sound like he's comfortable in it, to say the least:

Charles Oakley's lawyer, Frederick Nance, says Oakley came to the Knicks-Cavs game tonight as his guest. "When the Cavs learned we were coming, Dan Gilbert invited us to sit with him," Nance said in a text message.

Charles Oakley is seated next to owner Dan Gilbert in Cleveland tonight for Knicks-Cavs. He said he's rooting for a good game tonight and also said he's rooting for the better team but didn't have much to say about his feud with Knicks owner James Dolan. When asked if things had cleared up between he and the Knicks, Oakley said, "How long would it take you to get over something?" Oakley's lawyer, Frederick Nance, said Oakley would have more to say at the appropriate time.

One source close to the Derrick Rose talks says some members of the Knicks organization were willing to come off of their demand of a second asset in a potential Rose for Ricky Rubio offer. But the Knicks' willingness to lower the demands came too late for a deal to come together, the source said. In general, team president Phil Jackson had been looking for picks in talks with opposing teams.

The Knicks had offers on the table for several players but have stood pat at the trade deadline. Minnesota ultimately would not agree to what the Knicks were offering in a potential Derrick Rose trade. The Knicks were looking for an addition asset in addition for Rubio and Minnesota was unwilling to acquiesce. The Knicks also talked to the Clippers about a deal for Courtney Lee but nothing materialized.

A half hour ago, Minnesota had been unwilling to give up an additional asset in its talks with the Knicks on a Derrick Rose trade, according to a source. NYK wanted a second piece. Will the Knicks or Wolves come off of their demands?

NBA

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

One holdup in the Minnesota talks for Derrick Rose has been that the Knicks hadn't budged on their insistence that a second piece be added to the deal in a return for Ricky Rubio - a player or a draft pick, according to a source. With one hour to go, it will be interesting to see if the Knicks lower their demands or if Minnesota acquiesces.

Knicks and Clippers have had recent talks about shooting guard Courtney Lee, sources tell Ramona Shelburne and I. The Knicks have been seeking draft picks back in most conversations they've had with teams, per sources. The Clippers don't have any immediate first-round picks to offer to New York may have to settle for a player or get a third team involved to push a deal through.
