The big takeaway on the Jets: Their quarterback situation is as unsettled as ever. Did someone say controversy? It was a mixed bag from rookie Sam Darnold and Teddy Bridgewater, setting up a fascinating decision in two weeks for Todd Bowles. Frankly, Bridgewater looks like the best QB on the roster, but you can bet Darnold will get another chance to win the job. The rookie threw a red-zone interception in an otherwise solid performance, but his inexperience jumped out on a few plays. Could the Jets trade Bridgewater? Anything is possible at this point.

Sam Darnold is human, after all. The rookie QB experienced a couple of red-zone hiccups in the first half, including an interception. Darnold (8-for-11, 62 yards) generated only three points in three possessions. This complicates the Jets' QB situation, as Darnold missed an opportunity to put a stranglehold on the starting job. He showed his inexperience on the interception. On fourth-and-1 from the 20, Darnold didn't read the safety (Deshazor Everett), who undercut the route and tipped the ball in the air. It was picked off by Troy Apke. Earlier, Darnold took a third-down sack in the red zone. No word on whether he'll start the second half.

Aaron Boone on watching other teams in the division at this point in the season: "I pay attention to the sport. I know what's going on. But I'm not thinking about what other teams are ahead, behind. That's just frankly a waste of time. It's, we've got to get after the Blue Jays. That is my focus. That is our teams' focus."

Aaron Boone and Giancarlo Stanton weren't happy Stanton's eighth-inning hit off the yellow stripe on the wall in right was ruled a double. Originally, umpires called it a homer before video replay confirmed it hadn't left the ballpark. They had Stanton go to second base.

The Mets are battering the Phillies 22-4 in the first game of their doubleheader, so we've got another position player on the mound. Philly has Roman Quinn out there and it's not going well -- six runs allowed so far. More pertinent are the on-going struggles of the Phillies' defense. Four errors have led to 11 unearned runs. According to the baseball-reference.com play index, that's the most unearned runs Philadelphia has allowed in a game since 1922.
