Didi Gregorius just told me that he expects to start throwing next week. Said he feels "no relief" that his injured shoulder does not need surgery since his only goal was to be in the Yankees starting lineup on Opening Day. Will be the first arm work Gregorius does after injuring his throwing shoulder during the WBC and having to start the season on the DL.

ESPN Stats and Information

This is the fourth straight season in which the New York Knicks failed to make the postseason. Dating back to the 2000-01 season, the Knicks have won one playoff series, tied with the Pelicans for the fewest by any franchise. New York's .418 win percentage in that span ranks third-worst in the NBA, ahead of only the Timberwolves and Hornets.

The Basketball Tournament, the $2 million winner-take-all summer tournament, will move from New York to Baltimore this year. Carmelo Anthony will host the tournament and played an active role in getting it to his hometown:

Aaron Judge is the Yankees starting right fielder, Joe Girardi announced today in Tampa. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound Judge had the offseason backing of owner Hal Steinbrenner and enters Thursday afternoon with a .975 OPS in 58 at-bats. Aaron Hicks will be the team's fourth outfielder.

The Yankees believe Luis Severino can be a top of the rotation guy, which is why the competition was always weighted his way for the 4th spot in the rotation. He has won that job, Joe Girardi said in Tampa today. The fifth starter will either be Bryan Mitchell or Jordan Montgomery.

Since taking over as closer for the Mets in 2015, Jeurys Familia has been one of the most consistent ninth-inning options in baseball. New York will be without Familia for the first 15 games of this season due to suspension.

ESPN Stats and Information

Much like the 76ers, Lakers and Magic, losing has been a constant theme for the Knicks over the last four seasons. Wednesday's 105-88 loss to Miami was New York's ninth defeat in its last 11 games.

Predicting Yankees' 2017 record

Joe Peta thinks that the Yankees are about to do something this season for the first time since 1992. That's not necessarily something to get excited about.

Jets brass will be in Chapel Hill, N.C., today for a private workout with UNC QB Mitchell Trubisky. He put it on the radar at his recent pro day, when he said the Jets were one of the teams that wanted private time with him. The Jets say they're open to drafting a quarterback with the sixth pick, which would surprise many around the league. They've also worked out Clemson's Deshaun Watson and Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer.
