Yankees rightfielder Aaron Judge snapped his strikeout streak at 37 consecutive games, going 1-for-1 with 3 walks in a win over the Tigers. Judge and Bill Stoneman (a pitcher for the 1971-72 Expos) share the mark for longest such streak all-time, Judge still remains on pace to crush Curtis Granderson's franchise record for strikeouts in a season.

Masahiro Tanaka was pretty good in his return from the DL. Tanaka, who had inflammation in his shoulder, went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked none. He was given a seven-run lead before the bottom of the third.

Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek was at a gym in Manhattan this week to watch a pickup game featuring Carmelo Anthony and other NBA players, per league sources. It's unclear if Hornacek was there to watch/support Anthony or to watch other players in the game but his presence is worth noting given the current situation between the Knicks and Anthony. The club would like to trade Anthony and Anthony would like to be moved but NYK hasn't found a suitable deal yet. Anthony has been working out with trainer Chris Brickley at the Lifetime Fitness gym in Manhattan this summer and playing pickup with several NBA players, including LeBron James and Kevin Durant, at the gym.

Gary Sánchez hit a 493-foot home run against the Tigers tonight. That's 2 feet shy of the longest HR in the majors this season, a 495-foot shot hit by his Yankees teammate, Aaron Judge on June 11 against the Orioles.

The streak is over. Aaron Judge's strikeout streak has come to an end. Judge had K'd in a major league record 37 games, but didn't on Tuesday night. He went 1-for-1 with three walks before being lifted as the Yanks were blowing out the Tigers.

Without including Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks would have been hard pressed (to say the least) to come up with a package like Boston's for Kyrie‬ Irving. Irving had been telling friends that he was open to playing in New York.

The Yankees' Gary Sanchez's first inning two-run shot was the second longest in baseball this year, according to StatCast. Sanchez' shot went 493-feet. Aaron Judge hit one earlier in the season that was estimated at 495-feet.

Like all MLB teams, the Yankees will wear alternative jerseys this weekend, meaning they will have names on their backs and no pinstripes. Commissioner Rob Manfred, who grew up a Yankee fan, said, "Modern civilization is going to probably survive."

Masahiro Tanaka is not only trying to help pitch the Yankees into the playoffs, he is trying to make his opt-out decision difficult. Tanaka will start tonight after the Yankees took him off the DL following his recovery from inflammation in his right shoulder. At the end of the season, he can opt out of the final three years and $68 million of his contract. Right now, it is hard to see him doing that with an 8-10 record and a 4.92 ERA.

In NBA.com's survey of 39 rookies, Dallas Mavericks guard Dennis Smith Jr. was named most likely to win Rookie of the Year. This is sure to motivate Knicks rookie Frank Ntilikina.

The Rockets will play the Knicks at MSG on Oct. 9 in the preseason. Just a guess: Carmelo Anthony will be playing for NYK that night.

In just a little while, Rory McIlroy is gonna make more contact with a ball than Aaron Judge has in a while! That's not really fair. McIlroy will be hitting a golf balls along with a patient from St. Jude Children's Hospital at multiple targets from the 200 level at Yankee Stadium onto the field.

Both the Knicks Jamel Artis and Xavier Rathan-Mayes have an Exhibit 10 in their contract. Each player would receive a $50K bonus if they are waived and spend 60 days with the Knicks G-League team. Unlike the protection for Nigel Hayes, the Exhibit 10 bonus doesn't impact the Knicks cap.

The contract for the Knicks Nigel Hayes has $50K protection. The Hayes money will hit NYK cap if waived and doesn't have an Exhibit 10.

Blake Griffin doesn't claim to have any insight into LeBron James' mindset, but he said on a recent podcast that he could see James signing with the Knicks before choosing the Lakers. "Honestly, I don't see him coming to L.A. period," Griffin said on the podcast, "View from the Cheap Seats." "Listen, again, I have no idea. I think something is brewing with him and his group of guys.... I could see [LeBron] going to New York before L.A," Griffin added. "I still think, when you go to the Garden, it's a completely different feeling. The energy, there seems like there's just a consistent buzz the entire game. … Even last year when you go play them, it's still there."

Red Sox 5, Yankees 1: Two out of three ain't bad. It's also exactly what the Sox needed. For the second weekend in a row, the Red Sox managed to keep the second-place Yankees at arm's length by winning two of three games. Jackie Bradley Jr. drove in three runs, including a tone-setting two-run triple in the second inning against Yankees starter Sonny Gray. Rick Porcello tossed six solid innings for his fourth consecutive win.
