Rex Ryan's thoughts on his former Bills and Jets quarterbacks were captured in Tuesday night's episode of Hard Knocks during an ESPN production meeting with Bucs QB Jameis Winston. "I'm jealous because I never had a quarterback like you, you know what I mean?" Ryan said to Winston. "That's why I'm sitting here and I'm pissed off about it." Ryan also gushed over DeSean Jackson, asking the Bucs receiver, "How much would it have cost us if I was still in Buffalo to come get you? Because you know that was part of the plan." When Jackson mentioned the cold weather, Ryan said, "I would have brought a heater or something in there for you."

Hearing that some in the Knicks front office see Jarrett Jack and Archie Goodwin as potential free agent additions at point guard. Jack would provide the Knicks with a veteran presence in the locker room and on the floor. Goodwin fits the mold of the direction the Knicks are heading toward -- a young player who may still develop with opportunity. Jeff Hornacek is also familiar with Goodwin from their Phoenix days.

Jets rookie report: OLB Dylan Donahue practiced with the starting base defense, in Lorenzo Mauldin's vacated spot. Coach Todd Bowles downplayed the significance, saying it was just to get a better evaluation of Donahue, who missed the first game with a minor shoulder injury. TE Jordan Leggett (sprained foot) is missing valuable practice time, which could hamper his ability to contribute in Week 1. Safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye continue to draw praise from coaches and teammates.

Since fantasy owners seem concerned and have asked, no, I'm not adjusting the top-5 ranking overall or by position for Giants WR Odell Beckham because his sprained ankle could cost him a week or two of the regular season. Beckham has never produced much in past Septembers anyway. Still has had dominant seasons. Elite fantasy option.

For the second straight day, Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty received the majority of the Jets' QB reps, ahead of Josh McCown. The breakdown: Hackenberg 19, Petty 15 and McCown nine. They did a two-minute drill walk through at the end, and McCown took those reps. This is a strange competition.
