A rare feat for Robert Gsellman

Making his MLB debut on Tuesday, Gsellman relieved an injured Jonathon Niese in the first inning and earned the win with 3 2/3 scoreless innings. The only other pitcher in the modern era (since 1900) to earn a win in his MLB debut as a relief pitcher who entered the game in the first inning was John Montefusco on Sept. 3, 1974, per the Elias Sports Bureau.

August is CC Sabathia's month

With the win on Tuesday, Sabathia improved his career record in August to 49-18 (.731). Per the Elias Sports Bureau, only two pitchers in MLB history have a higher career win percentage in August than him (min. 50 decisions): Tim Hudson (43-12, .782) and Lefty Gomez (39-14 .736).
