Jets RB Matt Forte, who hasn't participated in team drills since July 31 because of a pulled hamstring, is running routes in positional drills. The sense I get is that he'll be ready for Week 1.

Stats & Info

OBJ's importance in perspective

Odell Beckham Jr. played 961 of the Giants' 1,018 offensive snaps (94.4 percent) last season, the third-highest percentage for any wide receiver in the league behind DeAndre Hopkins and teammate Sterling Shepard.

Masahiro Tanaka is not only trying to help pitch the Yankees into the playoffs, he is trying to make his opt-out decision difficult. Tanaka will start tonight after the Yankees took him off the DL following his recovery from inflammation in his right shoulder. At the end of the season, he can opt out of the final three years and $68 million of his contract. Right now, it is hard to see him doing that with an 8-10 record and a 4.92 ERA.

Manning loses if OBJ misses time

Odell Beckham Jr. hasn't complained about the hit he took Monday that caused his ankle injury, but some of his teammates have voiced their displeasure. If anyone should be upset, it should be his QB, Eli Manning.

Plan is for Odell Beckham to undergo further tests on his ankle in a bit. There remains reason for optimism.

In just a little while, Rory McIlroy is gonna make more contact with a ball than Aaron Judge has in a while! That's not really fair. McIlroy will be hitting a golf balls along with a patient from St. Jude Children's Hospital at multiple targets from the 200 level at Yankee Stadium onto the field.

Ben McAdoo said "if he can play, he'll play" on future preseason game for Beckham. Considering Giants basically play again in 4 days, seems highly unlikely.

The positives from Giants 10-6 loss to Browns were the defense and FG kickers. The negatives were the offense and injuries.

On another note: Brandon Marshall getting x-rays on shoulder and Michael Hunter out with concussion.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Giants say x-rays on Odell Beckham Jr. were negative. He will be reevaluated in New York. It's being called an ankle sprain. Huge sigh of relief.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Odell Beckham back on sideline but not in uniform. Another positive sign.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Beckham was cleared for concussion. Ankle is the concern now. Thinking positively, he was able to jog off field on it.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Odell Beckham leaving for x-rays on ankle and being evaluated for concussion, per Lisa Salters.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Odell Beckham left the game with an apparent knee injury. He was hit low. Didn't appear happy with the hit and was in pain. Rolled up in a ball after jogging off field.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie took a series at free safety. Had never seen that before. Not even in practice.

CB Eli Apple not on list of players ruled out vs. Browns. Still wouldn't expect much though. Ruled out: WRs Dwayne Harris and Darius Powe, RB Shaun Draughn, LBs Mark Herzlich, J.T. Thomas and Keenan Robinson and OT Michael Bowie.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Expecting the Giants to run 5 WR screens, an end around to Odell Beckham, a few quick slants and screens to RBs. Not going to have Eli Manning sit back there and take hits on shots downfield.

Statement from the Jets: "The New York Jets organization is very proud that Woody Johnson was officially sworn in today as ambassador of the United States of America to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As previously announced, Christopher Johnson has taken over the role of New York Jets chairman and CEO."

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

The Jets avoided the total solar eclipse by practicing indoors. In fact, they didn't even practice; it was just a 90-minute walk-through, ending at 2:30 ET. Afterward, some players went outside to view the eclipse with protective glasses. Todd Bowles said the eclipse had nothing to do with the change in practice plans. He said he wanted a light day to allow the team to recover physically from Saturday night's game.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

Jets QB Christian Hackenberg took the blame for the sack/fumble on the third play on Saturday night's loss to the Lions. "We could've checked to something else, probably maxed it, got some protection," said Hackenberg, who was crushed by the unblocked Cornelius Washington. "It was a good learning experience. I thought they were bringing something and they adjusted, and they did a good job of bringing what I thought they weren't going to bring." Translation: He got outfoxed by the Lions.
