New York Teams

Pistons 111, Knicks 107: New York falls to 0-2 after letting a 21-point first-half lead slip away. Kristaps Porzingis was fantastic for much for the night, pouring in 33 points on 20 shots. He made just four of his final 13 attempts though. Tim Hardaway Jr. struggled with his shot, missing 12 of 16. Tough night for Jeff Hornacek's club, which gave away a winnable game.

Kristaps Porzingis passed up an open three with the Knicks down three and 30 seconds to play. He instead drove but was rejected at the rim by Andre Drummond. Detroit is in control here, up five with eight seconds to play.

Point guard play has hurt the Knicks in the closing minutes. Ramon Sessions took a 3-pointer early in the shot clock with the Knicks down one with around three minutes left and then fouled Reggie Jackson on an And-1 two minutes later. Detroit up 3 with 45 seconds to play.

When the Yankees signed Brian McCann to a five-year, $85 million contract in December of 2013, they could only dream of him ripping a two-run double in an ALCS Game 7 they were playing in. However, he is doing it for the opposite team. McCann, who was traded by the Yankees to the Astros this past winter, nailed a two-run double off the Yankees' Tommy Kahnle to open up a four-run lead for Houston. The Yankees are still paying McCann around a third of his $15M salary this year.

Brian McCann is doing a number on his former team in Game 7 of the ALCS. Not only did the Astros catcher somehow hold the ball and make a tag as Greg Bird slid feet-first into home plate in the top of the fifth inning, but he ripped a two-run double to right field in the bottom of the inning.

Interesting test for Kristaps Porzingis here: he checks in with the Knicks down one with about nine minutes to play. How much of an impact can he have down the stretch of a winnable game here?

El venezolano José Altuve ha conectado 5 cuadrangulares con los Astros de Houston en postemporada, la segunda mayor cantidad en la historia de la franquicia después de los 8 de Carlos Beltrán en 2004.

Jose Altuve with an ALCS MVP-worthy bat flip as he reaches first base after hitting a line-drive solo homer into the right-field seats here in the fifth inning against Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle.

The Yankees' Tommy Kahnle saved CC Sabathia in the fourth. Sabathia handed the ball to Kahnle with two men on and one out. Kahnle induced the Astros' George Springer to hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Sabathia struggled, but only only allowed an Evan Gattis homer before being pulled.

Stan Van Gundy has put Anthony Tolliver on Kristaps Porzingis to start the second half and the Knicks have gone scoreless in the first 3:30. Detroit cuts a 13-point halftime lead to six.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

Great job by Tommy Kahnle to not only get out of the jam, but doing it with a double play on one pitch. He's now thrown 10.2 scoreless innings this postseason and could easily take the Yankees through the sixth. That maybe leaves David Robertson for the seventh and then Aroldis Chapman. In other words: The Astros may need to throw a shutout to win this game.

Frank Ntilikina was asked if it's frustrating to miss the home opener due to a sprained ankle. "It is a little bit," the rookie guard said. "I want to be out there and play and get experience and just play basketball. But now I got to be strong mentally and do the best for my body and do the best I can do for my body and my career." Ntilikina's ankle sprain doesn't seem serious. He said it was feeling much better on Saturday, a little more than 24 hours after the sprain. He can run back and forth but has trouble moving laterally. He hopes to play on Tuesday against Boston. Ntilikina missed all Summer League games with a knee injury and sat out of New York's final four preseason games due to a separate knee ailment.

The Astros strike first, as Evan Gattis belts a CC Sabathia pitch off the facade of the train station in left field at Minute Maid Park for a solo home run in the fourth inning.

In reviewing Charlie Morton's rough Game 3 starts vs. both Red Sox and Yankees, Astros manager A.J. Hinch concluded he was "one of the unluckiest pitchers in postseason," giving up runs despite not being hit hard. Morton has been terrific here so far, allowing one hit through four scoreless innings. Most importantly, he has kept the relievers in the Astros' shaky bullpen from moving a muscle.

Kristaps Porzingis has hit his first seven attempts tonight - abusing John Leuer and Stanley Johnson. He's scored in the post and has hit two threes, helping the Knicks build an -18-point lead.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Kristaps Porzingis has flashed strong moves with his back to the basket. He generated eight of his 11 points out of the post in the first quarter and has hit his first four shots. He and Enes Kanter have dominated Detroit inside early on.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

The Yankees' Aaron Judge saved the first run of ALCS Game 7 from scoring, by racing to the right field wall, leaping and stealing what appeared to be a solo homer from the Astros' Yuli Gurriel in the second. Judge's glove went over the wall as he made the catch and he did an incredible job of hanging on to the ball.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Enes Kanter picks up two fouls after a strong first seven minutes (8 points, 5 rebounds) and Jeff Hornacek goes with Kyle O'Quinn again as his first big off the bench over Willy Hernangomez. Hornacek has said he'd like Hernangomez to improve on defense.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Stanley Johnson defending Kristaps Porzingis in the post is a matchup the Knicks should exploit.

Same starting lineup for the Knicks tonight: Ramon Sessions, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, Kristaps Porzingis and Enes Kanter.

Predicting the Jets' inactives for tomorrow: RB Travaris Cadet, TE Jordan Leggett, QB Christian Hackenberg, LB Obum Gwacham, CB Derrick Jones, LB Freddie Bishop and C Jonotthan Harrison. The big question is DE Mo Wilkerson (toe, shoulder), who is questionable. The hunch is he'll play. If they felt otherwise, they could've promoted a defensive lineman from the practice squad. They didn't. If Wilkerson doesn't play, they'd be down to five linemen in forecasted 87-degree heat. Not ideal.
