Jets GM Mike Maccagnan could've doused the Sheldon Richardson trade rumors on Monday, but he took a pass, declining to comment on whether he will try to deal Richardson before or during the draft. He said, "As a general manager, you're looking at all different ways you can change the team, improve the team or help the team. You weigh everything as you come across it." Officials from some other teams believe a trade is unlikely, in large part, because of Richardson's $8.1 million salary.

Derrick Rose discussed his free agency while attending the Bulls playoff game in Chicago on Sunday. "I'm going into it with an open mind and will listen to everyone," Rose said, via the Chicago Tribune. "Last season sucked losing. But it was a great experience. I loved the guys that I played with and I loved the coaching staff. And who wouldn't like playing in New York? It was great." Rose underwent surgery in April to repair a meniscus injury and expects to be healthy enough to return to the court later this month. The Knicks have expressed interest in re-signing Rose this summer.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan, speaking Monday in his annual pre-draft news conference, declined to say whether they will exercise the fifth-year option for S Calvin Pryor. The deadline is May 3. The salary amount hasn't been announced yet by the league, but it will be at least $5.676 million -- the 2016 amount for safeties. The salary is guaranteed for injury only, and doesn't become fully guaranteed until next March.

Kristaps Porzingis announces at a press conference in Latvia that he'll play for the Latvian national team this summer in the European Championships. The Knicks recommended last year that Porzingis not play with his national team. This year, it is unclear if they made any recommendation. Porzingis was frustrated by the lack of direction within the organization at the end of the season.

Ryan Zimmerman's revamped swing continues to do big damage. After teammate Daniel Murphy suggested he needed to work on changing his launch angle -- Zimmerman hit the ball hard last season, but too often on the ground -- the Nationals' first baseman is hitting .387 and just belted his sixth home run to give the Nats a 6-3 lead in the eighth.
