Aaron Boone on his initial impressions of young infielders Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar: "I'm trying to contain my excitement. I think they're both going to be tremendous players. I love who they are. You can tell they enjoy being on the baseball field. You can tell they're confident in their ability, the way they move around, yet there's a humility about them."

On a back field at the Yankees' spring training complex, fans can get a close-up view of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez taking BP. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

The Nick Holden trade is a nice little move for both the New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins. Holden, 30, has a low cap hit ($1.65 million) and an expiring contract. He bolsters the Bruins' left side on defense, perhaps to avoid asking Matt Grzelcyk to do too much in his first postseason. The third-round pick the Rangers get for this rental adds another selection to an important draft board this June. If Rob O'Gara, 24, becomes something more than the AHL defenseman he appears to be at this point, all the better. He goes RFA this summer.

Knicks and Troy Williams have agreed on a 10-day contract, per sources, and Williams is expected to join the Knicks this week. ESPN earlier reported the Knicks' interest in Williams, who was recently released by Houston. The Knicks are looking for young, athletic players to develop and they found one in the 23-year-old Williams, a 6-7 small forward who has elite athleticism but will need to improve his shot and develop consistency on defense. The agreement was first reported by The Athletic. New York has an open roster spot to add Williams.

Today is the first day teams can apply the franchise tag. This is a non-issue for the Jets, as none of their prospective free agents is worth the tag. Truth is, they probably won't have a franchise-tag candidate until 2020, when Leonard Williams is eligible for free agency (if he plays out his fifth-year option).

The Knicks are one of several teams who have expressed interest in free agent Troy Williams, per league sources. Williams is expected to make a decision on his next destination soon. The 23-year-old 6-7 wing was waived by Houston last week to make room for veteran Joe Johnson. The Knicks have an open roster spot at the moment.

The Jets apparently will let OT Ben Ijalana test free agency. They have yet to exercise a $500,000 option bonus and the deadline was today, according to the NFL Network. The option would've triggered a $4.5 million base salary (non-guaranteed). The move saves the Jets $4.7 million on the cap. Ijalana, 28, has value because he can play left and right tackle. The Jets could try to re-sign him as a free agent.
