Kristaps Porzingis on the Knicks offense after their first practice: "I saw some elements from the triangle. I think it's always good to know an offense that's worked in the past. It's always good for everybody, even if we're not playing it. Just to know some other teams use elements from that offense to defend that better. Or for yourself, for your basketball IQ. We worked on it a little bit today and probably going forward we're going to do some things with the triangle. It's going to be good for everybody to know that."

Boom, bust or walk for Gallo, Judge

With the regular season nearly over, Joey Gallo is on pace to set the record for highest percentage of plate appearances (min. 500) ending in a home run, walk or strikeout. Not too far behind is Aaron Judge, who will become the sixth player in history to lead his respective league in all three categories, per the Elias Sports Bureau.

Jose Altuve was hit on his left forearm in Monday's win for the Astros and left the game, but X-rays were negative and he has only a contusion. He's sitting on 199 hits as he tries to reach 200 for the fourth season in a row, but don't surprised if he sits a game or two with the postseason looming. If so, that gives Aaron Judge a couple games to hit some more home runs and gain ground in the MVP race.

Kristaps Porzingis was asked if he drew optimism from the idea that so many Eastern Conference stars, including Anthony, have defected to the Western Conference this season via free agency or trade. "I think that's kind of a losing mentality if you're hoping for the conference to get worse so you can make the playoffs," he said. "No matter what's going on in the East or West, we have to try to be the best team we can."

Kristaps Porzingis reflects on his time with Carmelo Anthony: "He was a great leader for us. He was a great mentor for me. He was like a big brother to me. So I'm really thankful for him being around me. I have nothing but respect for Carmelo and I wish him the best in the future." Porzingis added that playing without Anthony will create different challenges this season. "He took a lot of pressure off of everybody. We all understand that. He was always the No. 1 focal point for the other team," he said. "I realize that. And now I'm going to be one of those guys that other teams are going to focus on."

After skipping his exit meeting last season over frustration with the Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis expresses confidence in the new management team of Steve Mills and Scott Perry: "I have faith in those people and I believe they want us to grow," Porzingis said. "They want for me to be in a position where I can succeed. I'm excited. A lot of new things are happening. A lot of new people are here. There's going to be a lot of changes. I'm coming in, as I said, with a fresh mind. I'm looking forward to this season."

Former Jets LB Erin Henderson is suing the team for wrongful termination and disability discrimination, according to NJ Advance Media. He's seeking $3.3 million in compensatory damages, plus punitive damages. Henderson, who battled alcohol problems in the past, was placed on the non-football injury list last October -- unjustly, he claims. He suffers from bipolar disorder and claims the team didn't provide proper care. Henderson became a free agent in February when the Jets declined an option.
