An embarrassment of riches in the infield: Xander Bogaerts told me he will play 3B for the Netherlands and Didi Gregorius will DH. Andrelton Simmons will be at SS. When asked who's playing second base, he said Jonathan Schoop and Jurickson Profar had to figure it out.

Before and after talking to reporters, Derrick Rose said he had to go to catch a flight to Chicago. A Knicks spokesperson said Rose was joking and was not flying to Chicago. Rose missed a game against New Orleans on Jan. 9 when he went to Chicago for a family issue but did not tell the Knicks. He was fined by the team.

Derrick Rose spoke with Jeff Hornacek and Steve Mills after practice and said he holds no grudges toward the Knicks for having trade talks with Minnesota involving the point guard. "We didn't talk about any of that to tell you the truth," Rose said. "I hadn't received no calls about it. I am going to be professional about the situation, I know what it is. There are no grudges and no hard feelings about what was going on, if I was on the trading block or whatever. I know it is part of it. I want to be here. That is how I feel and he told me that I was alright."

Kristaps Porzingis: "We want to finish the season halfway decent. We got to give our all now these last whatever games we have. Just for ourselves and to give the fans enjoyment just need to give everything we have. Hopefully we can get on a run. It's tough we haven't still found that connection where we can just play free and playing our basketball. We're still trying to find that."

Kristaps Porzingis sprained his ankle when he stepped on teammate Willy Hernangomez's foot. He plans to get further tests on the ankle Friday and was in a walking boot late Thursday night. Porzingis said his ankle 'swelled up' and 'it didn't feel too good.' He was unsure when he'd return. The Knicks play next on Saturday.

Even a die-hard Knicks fan has to find this line from Charles Barkley funny: "I was talking to Spike Lee at All Star Weekend, he's dying to get kicked out of the Garden. He don't wanna watch this s—t," Barkley said on TNT Thursday night.

Carmelo was asked if he understands management's vision for the future of the team. I'm paraphrasing, but he essentially said that he didn't.

After a day of deadline drama - and no trades - the Knicks come out and remind you why they are a team that's on the outside of the playoff race looking in. They were destroyed by the defending champs -- and the game wasn't close for most of the final three quarters. The Knicks are 12 games under .500 and have dropped eight of 10.

After shootaround this morning, Derrick Rose answered a few questions about the triangle offense. It doesn't sound like he's comfortable in it, to say the least:

Charles Oakley's lawyer, Frederick Nance, says Oakley came to the Knicks-Cavs game tonight as his guest. "When the Cavs learned we were coming, Dan Gilbert invited us to sit with him," Nance said in a text message.
