The Giants gained just 54 yard rushing. Ahmad Bradshaw ran for only 39 yards on 12 carries while Brandon Jacobs had just 18 yards on nine carries. But both running backs scored a touchdown. Despite not having a 100-yard rushing game yet, Bradshaw and Jacobs have been scoring touchdowns. Perhaps the Giants would have had better luck running in the second half if starting center David Baas didn't suffer a stinger.
When the game was on the line, Eli Manning shined. He passed for 321 yards and two touchdowns, both of which came in the fourth quarter in the final 3:37. Manning completed 14-of-17 passes for 180 yards and the two touchdowns in a stirring fourth-quarter comeback. Hakeem Nicks had 10 catches for 162 yards and the game-winning touchdown and Victor Cruz had six receptions for 98 yards.
Beanie Wells gashed the Giants for three touchdowns and 138 yards rushing. And all three of his touchdowns came running against and over the Giants' right side of the defensive line. However, on the Cardinals' final two drives of the game, the Giants held Wells to 11 yards rushing on two carries.
Larry Fitzgerald had eight receptions for 102 yards. But the Giants sacked Kevin Kolb four times, intercepted him once. Osi Umenyiora had two sacks, including a forced fumble, in his season debut. Dave Tollefson had two sacks in Justin Tuck's absence. Antrel Rolle had two pass breakups and an interception and Corey Webster came up with a big breakup on a pass intended for Fitzgerald to end the game.
Aaron Ross had a critical 18-yard punt return with 3:21 remaining that gave the Giants the ball at the Arizona 48-yard-line. Two plays later, the Giants scored a touchdown to take a 31-27 lead. The punt return coverage team held Patrick Peterson without any long returns and the Lawrence Tynes converted a 30-yard field goal.
The Giants came out a bit flat early in the game and it wasn't looking good when they were down 27-17 after Beanie Wells was running all over Perry Fewell's defense. But the Giants rallied, thriving off a no-huddle hurry-up offense and scoring 14 points in less than a minute. Bottom line, the Giants have won three straight and believe they can win despite whatever obstacle is thrown their way at the moment.
