Sounds like Damarious Randall will join Sam Shields as the Packers starting cornerbacks. "Sam and D have separated themselves," cornerback coach Joe Whitt said. "But outside of that, we're looking for that fourth, fifth guy."

Joey Bosa said he did not get involved in the business part of contract negotiations. He trusted his parents and agents to do what's best because they've been through it before. He said it was strange to watch his team playing on TV. "We came to a fair deal and there's no animosity between any of us."

A few thoughts on the Dolphins' trade of DE Chris McCain to the Saints: McCain was on the roster bubble, there was a solid chance he wouldn't make the team. Miami has four veteran DEs in Mario Williams, Cameron Wake, Andre Branch and Jason Jones all ahead of McCain. The Dolphins also have to consider former No. 3 overall pick and DE Dion Jordan could take a roster spot down the road when he gets healthy. McCain was an undrafted rookie two years ago. So any draft compensation would be considered a solid turnaround. McCain has some pass-rush skill and can play a variety of special teams.

Brees not in agreement with Kaepernick

Drew Brees, who has long been a passionate supporter of the military, said Monday that he doesn't have an issue with Colin Kaepernick's desire to speak out against racial injustice -- just with the 49ers QB's method of protest. 'Wholeheartedly' disagree

The low flying jets that buzzed the Panthers' practice on Monday were not practicing for a flyover for a game as first reported: Here is a statement from the FAA: "The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking into reports that a flight of four U.S. Air Force A-10 aircraft flew at a low altitude over the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC, late this morning. FAA Air Traffic Controllers approved the pilots' request to fly over the stadium after they departed from Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 11:35 am. The flight was headed to Valdosta, GA. An FAA employee incorrectly told an official at Charlotte Douglas International Airport that the flight was a practice flyover for a football game."

Who knows if Jeff Janis can play receiver with a club cast on his right hand? But Ron Zook thinks Janis could play on special teams with it. "If they'll let him, I think he can," the Packers special teams coordinator said. "He was running around out there today. Other than the club, he looked pretty good to me. Can he make a tackle I guess would be the biggest question to me?"
