The clock is ticking on the Vikings

Every time Sam Bradford drops back to pass, it's one one-thousand, two one-thousand -- a ticking clock until he gets hit. And thus, the Vikings' season is a season in jeopardy.

The Dolphins are now 3-1 this season at Hard Rock Stadium. They will return here following a bye to face the Jets (2-5) on Nov. 6.

San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick says there isn't any one thing you can point to for why the offense continues to start off in rhythm and then lose it quickly. Kaepernick said he wasn't good enough in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay. "I have to be better," Kaepernick said. "I think we had 100 yards (passing), that's not going to win in the NFL."

Melvin Gordon is 7-for-9 converting touchdowns within three yards of his opponent's goal line this season. He was 0-for-1 on such plays in 2015.

49ers coach Chip Kelly said he has never been part of a 6-game losing streak like his team is currently on. Kelly said he doesn't get mad about the team's current state because it doesn't change anything. "Anger doesn't help you," Kelly said. "You've got to find a solution."

Dan Quinn said it was his gut feeling to go with fourth and 1 in OT. Plain and simple.

The Steelers say every week they want to stop the run, but in two weeks they've allowed more than 300 yards and four rushing touchdowns. LeGarrette Blount is the latest success story with 127 rushing yards and two scores in a 27-16 Patriots win. Coach Mike Tomlin said they were comfortable giving up at least some ground yardage in efforts to minimize Tom Brady. But that seems to counter a usual top-10 rushing defense. And an offense without Big Ben knew it had to be great in the red zone. It got seven points out of its first three trips. Won't get it done.

The San Diego Chargers showed resiliency in a 33-30 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the team's first two-game winning streak since the 2014 season. The Chargers trailed by as many as 17 points, but as they have done all season San Diego found a way to have a chance to win in the fourth quarter.

49ers OLB Aaron Lynch says he has a high ankle sprain. He'll have an MRI on Monday. "I'll be fine," Lynch said. "I'm not worried about it." Lynch left locker room with a walking boot on his left foot.

Dirk Koetter said wide receiver Russell Shepard gave a passionate speech to the locker room before the game. As I mentioned earlier, he was cut by Chip Kelly when he was with the Eagles in 2013.

"They went through us like Swiss cheese on that opening drive," head coach Dirk Koetter said of Chip Kelly's 49ers offense. As far as Jacquizz Rodgers, he said, "Man, just Google Oregon State vs. USC."

Falcons blow a 27-10 lead to lose to the Chargers 33-30 in overtime. Falcons fall to 4-3 and have lost two at home. Fourth-and-1 play Dan Quinn for in OT but missed will draw plenty of criticism, but defense failed Falcons, too.

The Panthers (1-5) moved within 2 1/2 games of the Falcons (4-3) in the NFC South with San Diego's 33-30 overtime win at Atlanta. Maybe this is 2014 all over again.

Interesting to note the Dolphins' upcoming schedule includes five straight games against teams with losing records (Jets, Chargers, Rams, 49ers, Ravens). Miami (3-4) is in solid position to make a push after its bye week.

Falcons started last season 5-0, missed playoffs. Started this season 4-1, and are now 4-3

LeGarrette Blount's return to Pittsburgh, where he played in 2014, was a successful one as he finished with 24 carries for 127 yards and 2 TDs in the Patriots' 27-16 hard-fought victory over the Steelers. The Patriots didn't make it easy for themselves with some uncharacteristic drops and turnovers, but Blount's hard-charging running – and some big plays from tight end Rob Gronkowski in the second half – were enough to get the job done.
