Speaking of Kevin Johnson, the Texans just announced that they put the cornerback on injured reserve and activated safety Lonnie Ballentine from the PUP list. Ballentine injured his knee a year ago. He said this week he isn't sure when he will play and that when he returns is "the coach's decision."

The Texans have ruled out safety Quintin Demps (calf), inside linebacker Brian Peters (quad) and Jonathan Grimes (ankle) for Monday's game against the Broncos. Cornerback Kevin Johnson has also been ruled out, but he broke his foot on Sunday and is likely done for the season.

Kubiak also said after Saturday's Broncos practice that DeMarcus Ware went through a workout in the team's indoor complex earlier in the day and that Ware should return to practice next week. Ware has not played since fracturing his forearm in Broncos' Week 2 win over the Colts.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said after Saturday's practice tackle Russell Okung and wide receiver Cody Latimer both practiced and both were scheduled to be examined again Saturday afternoon in concussion protocol. Kubiak said the expectation was both players, barring an unexpected issue, would be able to play Monday night against the Texans.

At Broncos practice Saturday all players were on the field and participating, except linebacker DeMarcus Ware. Coach Gary Kubiak said yesterday there was a chance Ware would participate in practice this week so Ware could be on field for team's work on Sunday. Ware hasn't played since he fractured his forearm in Broncos' Week 2 win over the Colts. Ware said earlier this week he's "really close" to coming back.

Panthers MLB Luke Kuechly will have his jersey retired today at Boston College, where he set a school record with 532 tackles and became known as a "tackling machine." "Luke is a very deserving person and a very deserving student-athlete for Boston College," former BC quarterback Doug Flutie told reporters at Kuechly's press conference. "He's playing in the NFL and doing these great things that make you proud. He makes you proud that he went to Boston College, and it's a great moment for the program to honor one of the all-time greats."
