The Jaguars have added LB Sean Porter to the active roster from the practice squad and waived LB Arthur Brown.

The Lions have signed RB Joique Bell and placed CB Quandre Diggs and DE Armonty Bryant on injured reserve. Detroit also put Brandon Pettigrew on the reserve-NFI list. That's in addition to the Asa Jackson signing.

Here's an interesting connection I'd forgotten about: in 2010 Alex Smith was the 49ers starting quarterback. His backup was David Carr. At the time Derek was an unknown redshirt at Fresno State.

The Lions are signing CB Asa Jackson off Baltimore's practice squad, as first reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The Lions were searching for a corner after Quandre Diggs was injured Sunday against New Orleans. Jackson played for Lions DC Teryl Austin in 2012 and 2013.

Defense attorney John Fuller suggesting Deuce McAllister is testifying as a "famous Saints player" and points out that the photo the state introduced to the jury to identify Smith was of Smith and McAllister with other Saints in uniform on the sideline. Fuller now hinting that McAllister can't testify that Smith always has great character at all times.
