Not even James Harrison's mom can stop him from whipping Father Time

James Harrison's hunger, fire and determination seem to be undaunted by all comers, even his mother, who wouldn't mind if the Steelers LB retired.

We have some fresh faces atop our annual list of the best young players in the NFL, starting with a wide receiver who one evaluator said has done "Jerry Rice-type stuff" in his young career.

Steelers could be without up to four starters for Buffalo - WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (out, foot), DT Javon Hargrave (doubtful, concussion), K Chris Boswell (questionable, abdomen) and OG Ramon Foster (questionable, chest). Foster and Hargrave didn't practice all week, so their chances are not looking good. Boswell is a game-time decision.

Final Jets injury report for Sunday: Mo Wilkerson is questionable for the second straight week, but the hunch is he will play, as he did last week. S Calvin Pryor is expected to return after missing last week with a concussion.

The defense called a crime lab deputy, Madelyn Collins, to testify about gunshot residue. She said gunshot residue was found on Will Smith's hands, explaining it could possibly come from firing a gun, being near a gun when it's discharged or touching a gun that had been discharged. The state had her specify that she found only two particles on the back of each hand, one on the left palm and none on the right palm -- and that it's possible residue could come from a gun being fired into his vehicle. The defense has been hinting at the possibility that Smith may have held or fired a gun that was removed or moved at the scene.

Once surgery finished, Derrick Johnson intends to help #Chiefs LBS prep for SB run. "My job now is to help us get a ring any way possible."

A private detective for the defense testifies about a female witness who told him she thought she saw former NOPD captain Billy Ceravolo reach across Will Smith's body toward the glove compartment and pull out what she thought was a gun. The state gets the detective to acknowledge that she was wrong about Ceravolo being there at the time she said -- since surveillance video proved he wasn't there yet. The detective, David Olasky, said, "Some things about her story were true, some things she might have gotten wrong or confused. ... (But) I believe she saw someone removing something from the area of the glove box." The state has spent much of the day criticizing defense attorney John Fuller for publicly making such suggestions about Ceravolo, who took the stand earlier.

Rams RB Todd Gurley needs to average 81 rushing yards over these last four games to get to 1,000. "At the end of the day, looking for wins," he said. "But the big boys up front definitely want to get that for me, for sure. They're definitely going to be working."

Rams QB Jared Goff said he feels "really good." He got a lot of work done at the facility during Thursday's off day and had a full workout Friday. "Yesterday I was able to kind of regroup and get back to myself, and today I felt normal."

Rams HC Jeff Fisher, on GM Les Snead: "We communicate all the time, we work together, we make decisions together. I don't know where it's coming from. I'll find out. In our business, unnamed sources, they're not good." Fisher said he printed his transcripts from Tuesday, then the MMQB article, showed them to Snead and said, "How do you connect the dots? You can't."

Rams QB Jared Goff returned to practice today from what he deemed a stomach issue and said he feels good. RB Benny Cunningham (neck) is doubtful after not practicing all week. CB EJ Gaines (thigh) also did not practice all week and is listed as questionable. LG Rodger Saffold (hand) and WR Tavon Austin (chest) were full participants all week and are good to go. DE Robert Quinn (concussion) is questionable, but practiced in full on Friday.
