"Really good chance" Rams CB E.J. Gaines plays this Sunday against the Cardinals, Jeff Fisher said. He wasn't as definitive about WRs Nelson Spruce or Pharoh Cooper, but they will practice.

Andrus Peat is warming up at left tackle for the Saints tonight in place of injured starter Terron Armstead. The first-round pick from 2015 has suffered through some ups and downs in his career. But LT is his most natural position, and he has been off to a decent start this year at left guard. Veteran backup Senio Kelemete is warming up as the starting left guard.

We will see if Jacob Tamme, who leads the Falcons in receptions, is a factor tonight. When Falcons have gone with their three tight end set, Matt Ryan is 8 for 9 passing with an average of 16.9 yards per attempt.

This could be a big night for Saints rookie WR Michael Thomas with Willie Snead out with a toe injury. The 6-3, 212-pounder was the breakout star of training camp and the preseason – but the Saints' depth at WR limits his opportunities. Thomas has 10 catches for 114 yards on 11 targets this year.

San Francisco 49ers OL Anthony Davis has retired from the NFL for the second time in the past three years, the team announced Monday afternoon. Davis returned to the team before training camp after a one-year hiatus but moved to guard after he was unable to win the starting right tackle job. It appeared he'd won the starting right guard job but coach Chip Kelly went with Andrew Tiller just before the season started and Davis served as a backup in the first week. Davis then suffered a concussion in practice before the week 2 game against Carolina and was in the concussion protocol last week. Now, Davis is walking away again.
