Research Notes

  • LeSean McCoy was contacted behind the line of scrimmage on five of his 16 rushes, continuing a troubling trend for the Eagles offense.

  • Matt Ryan countered Philadelphia's four-man pass rush by completing 9-of-10 screen passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. No quarterback this season had even attempted nine screen passes in a game.

  • The Eagles entered Sunday as the fourth-most conservative defense in the league, and little changed with new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as the team sent four or fewer pass rushers after Matt Ryan on 30 of Ryan's 33 dropbacks. Ryan responded by setting season highs for an Eagles opponent in completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdowns and first-down percentage against four or fewer pass rushers.

  • Not only are the Atlanta Falcons 7-0, they have also scored 23 or more points in every game this season. Only 5 OTHER teams in NFL history went 7-0 to start the season and scored 23 or more points in every one of those games.

  • The Eagles loss today was their first in 14 games after a bye under Andy Reid.

  • From Elias: The Falcons are 15-0 when Matt Ryan throws at least three touchdowns. That's the second-most wins without a loss in NFL history when throwing three or more touchdowns.
