Research Notes

  • The Titans defense caught twice as many passes (4) as the Jets receivers (2) on Mark Sanchez throws that traveled 15 or more yards downfield. It is the first time this season a quarterback has thrown four interceptions on such passes.

  • NEXT LEVEL: The Titans defense put Jets quarterbacks under duress on a season-high 27.8 percent of their dropbacks when sending four or fewer pass rushers Monday. The Titans had allowed opponents to complete 70.6 percent of passes when sending standard pressure, the highest in the NFL.

  • Mark Sanchez was 3-for-10 and threw three of his four interceptions on play-action passes Monday. Sanchez has now thrown nine interceptions off of play fakes this season, three more than the next-closest quarterback. His -7 touchdown-to-interception ratio on play-action passes is the worst in the league.

  • NEXT LEVEL: Chris Johnson had his second touchdown rush this season of 80 or more yards against a box that has more defenders than available blockers. No other player in the NFL has any such touchdowns this season. Entering the game, Johnson had the second-most yards per rush (6.3) among qualified running backs against such defenses.

  • Mark Sanchez had a Total QBR of 6.8 on Monday night in the Jets loss to the Titans. In his career, Sanchez has nine games with a Total QBR under 7.0 (including 4 this season). That is the most in the NFL since 2008.

  • Monday night was Mark Sanchez's fifth game this season with a QBR of 10.0 or lower. Only two other quarterbacks have more than two such games this season (minimum 15 action plays).

  • From Elias: Chris Johnson: 3rd player in NFL history with multiple 90+ yard TD runs in a career. The other 2 are Ahman Green and Bo Jackson.

  • Since 1940, there have been only three seasons where a player recorded three touchdown runs of at least 80 yards. Chris Johnson has two of those three seasons, and the other was Barry Sanders.
