Research Notes

  • NEXT LEVEL: Adrian Peterson gained 23 yards after contact on 25 rushes Sunday, his lowest yards after contact per rush (0.9) in a game since Week 7 of the 2009 season against the Steelers. Peterson entered the game averaging 3.1 yards after contact per rush, more than a half yard better than the next closest rusher (Redman 2.5).

  • NEXT LEVEL: Arian Foster had 10 rushes for 15 yards against the Vikings, his lowest rushing total in a game since the 2010 season. Foster was hit behind the line of scrimmage on 6-of-10 rushes, and totaled negative four yards before first contact. The Vikings defense entered the game hitting opposing rushers behind the line on 18.7 percent of rushes, sixth-highest rate in the league.

  • Adrian Peterson needs 208 rushing yards against the Packers next week to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. Peterson had 210 rushing yards against the Packers earlier this season. If he were to accomplish the feat, Peterson wouldn't be the first player ever to run for 200 yards twice against the same team in the same season. O.J. Simpson did it in his 2,000-yard season in 1973, as did Jamal Lewis in his 2,000-yard season in 2003.
