Research Notes

  • Tom Brady's 16.8 Total QBR against the Bengals was his worst in a game since Week 14 of the 2006 season (lost 21-0 to the Dolphins). Nearly 29 percent (11-of-38) of his throws were off target (incompletions due to over or underthrown pass), his highest rate in a game during the last 2 seasons.

  • When the Bengals sent four or fewer rushers after Brady, they held him to 14-of-28 passing for 123 yards. However, it was blitzing Brady that proved especially effective on Sunday. The Bengals sent added pressure on 12-of-41 dropbacks (29%), similar to what Brady faced since the start of last season but with much better results.Three of Brady's last eight passes (all in the final 3:30) were dropped by Patriots receivers. Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman and Brandon Bolden all had drops. Brady was 5-of-10 for 65 yards targeting rookie wide receivers with no drops Sunday.
