Research Notes

  • The Giants ran for 123 yards against the Bears, the first time they eclipsed the 100-yard mark this season. The running back duo of Brandon Jacobs and Da'Rel Scott averaged three yards before contact. The Giants' running backs averaged 1.7 yards before contact coming into Thursday night, fourth fewest per rush in the league. Jacobs ran for 65 yards between the tackles, including both of his touchdowns.

  • Jay Cutler completed 9-of-10 passes when targeting Brandon Marshall, including two touchdowns. In the first five weeks of the season, Cutler completed 67% of his passes when targeting Marshall.

  • The Bears brought a defensive back as a pass rusher on three Eli Manning dropbacks; two resulted in an interception. Eli has thrown five interceptions this season when facing a DB rusher, more than any quarterback had in all of 2012. Eli has thrown an interception once every 7.2 dropbacks when facing a DB rusher compared with one every 24.5 dropbacks not facing one.

  • Eli Manning is the first player to throw 15 interceptions in the first 6 games of a season since Dan Fouts in 1986.

  • Brandon Jacobs's 1-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter was his 25th career rush TD of 1 yard or fewer. Since his rookie year in 2005, that is tied with Adrian Peterson for the most rush TD of 1 yard or fewer.
