Panthers CB Lucas suffers groin injury in first quarter

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers cornerback Ken Lucas was knocked
out of Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys with a groin

Lucas was injured in the first quarter when he tackled Terrell
Owens after a 6-yard completion. He got up slowly, limped back to
the huddle, but had trouble on the next play _ he fell down behind
the ball, which was intercepted by teammate Chris Gamble.

Lucas had difficulty sitting up on the bench, and was limping
toward the locker room when Carolina converted the turnover into a
touchdown by Steve Smith one play later. The Panthers said he
wouldn't return.

Panthers rookie Richard Marshall replaced him and covered Owens.
He batted away a ball in the end zone during the second quarter.
