Through April 20, "SportsCenter" will put every NFL team "On The Clock." Scouts Inc. will break down each team and look at what questions still need answering.
The Texans have been very busy in free agency. Without a doubt, the addition of Schaub (Falcons) was huge to everybody inside the Texans organization. However, Schaub has started only two games over his career. He has very good physical skills with the upside to develop potentially into a frontline starting quarterback. Green should upgrade a running game that finished 21st in rushing. If healthy, Green still has some big-play ability as the featured runner. The Texans also addressed their offensive line with the signing of LT Jordan Black (Chiefs). Defensively, the Texans signed WLB Shawn Barber (Eagles) to compete alongside MLB Ryans, and added experience and depth with the signing of RDT Jeff Zgonina (Dolphins), MLB Danny Clark (Raiders) and CB Jamar Fletcher (Lions).
The Texans released their first-ever draft pick, Carr, whose record as a starter was 22-53. He also was sacked an amazing 249 times. He was too turnover-prone for Kubiak's West Coast passing attack. Although WR Eric Moulds' skills are declining, he was still a solid complementary No. 2 receiver opposite Andre Johnson. Moulds finished last season second on the team with 57 receptions. The Texans also released NT Seth Payne, RT Zach Wiegert and RB Domanick Williams, who all failed postseason physicals. Backup OLB Antwan Peek signed with the Browns, while backup CB Lewis Sanders signed with the Falcons.
The Texans have been very active in filling needs during free agency, which should allow them to take the best available player with the No. 10 pick. Offensively, they need a receiver who can complement Johnson and give Schaub another legitimate target through the air. Even with the signing of Black, there are still concerns about the left tackle position due to the health concerns of lCharles Spencer, who suffered a major knee injury against Indianapolis in the second game of last season. Defensively, the Texans need to address their No. 2 corner spot opposite Dunta Robinson. They are need more speed and playmaking skills at linebacker and safety.
