Trial date for Bodden set after Super Bowl

CLEVELAND -- Browns cornerback Leigh Bodden will go on trial
the day after the Super Bowl on charges of being verbally abusive
toward police at an airport.

Cleveland Municipal Judge Anita Laster Mays on Tuesday set
Bodden's trial for Feb. 4. Bodden is charged with misdemeanor
aggravated disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and three traffic
charges. If convicted, he faces a maximum of six months in jail and
a $1,000 fine.

Bodden also could face discipline from the league under
commissioner Roger Goodell's crackdown on player misconduct.

The 26-year-old Bodden was picking up his girlfriend and their
two children Sept. 5 at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport,
the city's main airport. Police say he drove in reverse down a
one-way street, became verbally abusive and began to resist
officers trying to place handcuffs on him.

Bodden previously apologized to his coaches and teammates and
told reporters he couldn't comment.
