Vikings sign CB Griffin to extension

The Minnesota Vikings signed cornerback Cedric Griffin to a contract extension Friday, the terms of which were not immediately available.

Griffin has been a starter for most of his three seasons since the Vikings made him a second-round draft choice in 2006. He ranked second on the team last season with 91 tackles and has three regular-season interceptions in his career.

"We are glad to have Cedric as our right cornerback going forward," Minnesota Coach Brad Childress said in a statement, "He is an aggressive, physical, contact football player, whose best football is in front of him."
