Source: Texans sign ex-Brown Gaines

The Houston Texans, who drafted two tight ends, Garrett Graham and Dorin Dickerson, signed veteran tight end Michael Gaines on Monday for blocking purposes, according to a source.

Gaines was an unrestricted free agent of the Cleveland Browns last season. He played in nine games and started seven. He caught only five passes last season and 84 during his career.

Dickerson is expected to be used more as a wide receiver. Owen Daniels remains the starting tight end.
