DENVER (AP) -- Broncos receiver Javon Walker was held out Sunday against Kansas City as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.
Walker had played in two games since returning from a two-month absence, but he had only one catch for 7 yards.
Denver safety Nick Ferguson (knee) was also inactive.
The Chiefs were without running back Larry Johnson (foot) for a fifth straight week. Rookie Kolby Smith took Johnson's place in the backfield. Smith had rushed for 233 yards on 52 carries over the previous two games.

Scouting Report
AFC West rivals looking to stop the bleeding
This is a divisional matchup between two rivals that know each other very well and don't like each other. Both teams have a storied past and both are struggling. Kansas City rookie RB Kolby Smith hopes to build on the success he had against both Oakland and San Diego against a relatively weak Denver run defense. The Broncos can't afford to lose another game if they have any ideas about making the playoffs. Both teams want to stop losing streaks; Denver has lost two straight, while the Chiefs have lost their last five.
