GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers lost a pair of key defensive players on their first series of Sunday's NFC wild-card playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Green Bay had to play the rest of the game without cornerback Sam Shields and outside linebacker Mike Neal. Both sustained knee injuries and were ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Shields injured his left knee and was taken to the locker room on a cart. A few plays later, Neal injured his right knee and was carted off.
The loss of Neal left the Packers short-handed at outside linebacker. They had only two others active –- Nick Perry and Andy Mulumba.
In the third quarter, Mulumba also sustained a knee injury, forcing the Packers to switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defensive front for a few snaps before he returned.
Davon House replaced Shields.
