Tomlinson starts against Colts in wild-card game

San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson completed pregame warm-ups, running through a variety of agility tests and acceleration drills. He started against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night despite a groin injury.

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates did not work out in the pregame but will play. According to Norv Turner, the team didnt' feel it was necessary to test Gates, who also played.

Tomlinson told ESPN's Ed Werder as he left the field after warm-ups the groin injury is painful but he feels like he can change direction. The question, Tomlinson said, is how how long he will last if the pain intensifies.

Tomlinson said he took pain medication, not an injection.
