2013 NFL Power Rankings: Week 12

Updated: November 19, 2013, 3:18 PM ET

Hail to the Chiefs? Not anymore.

The Broncos, who handed Kansas City its first loss of the season Sunday night, are back on top for the first time since Week 7. Our voters (John Clayton, Ashley Fox, Dan Graziano, Jamison Hensley, Mike Sando and Kevin Seifert) dropped the Chiefs to No. 3, sandwiched between the Seahawks and Saints.

Is Denver's new reign built to last? We'll find out quickly. The Broncos travel to Foxborough for a prime-time showdown with Tom Brady and the Patriots in Week 12. A loss to the Patriots would open the door for a handful of teams, most likely Seattle, to claim the top spot.

The tests don't stop there for Denver, which travels to K.C. in Week 13 for a critical rematch. So even though the Broncos are a worthy and clear No. 1, don't assume they'll stay on top for the duration.

We could be hailing the Seahawks, Chiefs or someone else really soon.
