The Packers have waived rookie offensive lineman Josh James with an injury settlement. He had been out with a hamstring injury. That's three injury settlements in two days; Matt Rotheram and Jesse Schmitt yesterday. At this rate, they won't have to make any moves to get down to 75 players in a week.

Chargers QB Philip Rivers says the importance of the third preseason game could be somewhat overblown. "You want to be crisp," Rivers said. "But if we go out and have a great however-long (we play) this week in Minnesota, that does not mean we're going to be great in Kansas City."

Mike Mularkey said last year's third-round pick, Jeremiah Poutasi, would have to play better for the team to even consider him for a starting role. He never seemed in it, but he's certainly not the left guard. He's backing up right guard Chance Warmack. And depending on the time the team is willing to give him to develop, he could be looking for a new team after cuts.

Amari Cooper is not participating in practice today. No reason given yet.

The Broncos presumably are not surprised by Mark Sanchez this summer. Only JaMarcus Russell and Geno Smith have higher INT rates out 45 qualifying QBs since 2009. Only Rex Grossman, John Skelton and Kerry Collins have worse turnover-to-snaps ratios than Sanchez since Sanchez entered the league (min. 1000 snaps).

Tamba Hali made his return to practice with the Chiefs today. He even took a few snaps with the first team.

49ers offensive lineman Anthony Davis says he spent all but about three reps with the first team at right guard in Tuesday's practice. He's unsure if he will play there on Friday night but indicated that the move is shaping up to be something permanent. Davis started working inside last week in Denver and says he's already feeling more comfortable.

First time in the Lions locker room this season today. Some things stood out. It appears there is new carpet. They added more lockers in an area where computers used to be. There's also an updated paint job, with "Detroit Lions" and "One Pride" written in gray with a blue background. The ping pong table and corn hole boards are still there. There are also new digital screens displaying messages and the team's schedule. Also noticed -- two racks of pegs where players can hang gloves and cleats. Due to Lions rules, no pictures of any of these things were allowed.

Mike Zimmer would not confirm ESPN's report that Teddy Bridgewater has a sore shoulder, but said if Bridgewater did have a sore shoulder, it wouldn't make sense to have played him in Seattle.

Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said guard D.J. Fluker's MRI on his sprained right foot came back negative, but would not provide a time table for his return. "I'll give you the next injury report on our team come Kansas City week," McCoy said.

Ben Goessling ESPN Staff Writer

Mike Zimmer said he's made a decision about whether Adrian Peterson will play in the preseason, but won't reveal it publicly. He said he believes it doesn't help the Vikings from a competitive standpoint for the Chargers to know if Peterson is playing, in a preseason game.

Kenny Clark said today was the first time he's ever missed a practice in his life: Elementary school, middle school, high school or college. He said he dropped out yesterday with a back injury. He's awaiting more tests.

In his return to Vikings practice on Tuesday, Teddy Bridgewater stuck mostly to short passes and throws over the middle. Bridgewater, who sat out last Thursday's game in Seattle with a sore shoulder, hadn't thrown passes on Saturday or Sunday. His longest throw in a team drill was about 15 yards, and it was intercepted by Harrison Smith.

Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell sounded very encouraged about Thomas Rawls' progress. "He looks great," Bevell said. "He's giving Gus everything he's got. He's working hard. He's tenacious out there. He's doing everything that we could possibly ask. I think he's on the right track, and we look forward to when we get him back out there." Bevell wouldn't say whether Rawls will play in the preseason. He said RB C.J. Prosise could see action Thursday if everything goes well tomorrow.
