Cowboys linebacker. Jaylon Smith took four snaps in play-action drills. He did not make a tackle but he took on blocks from offensive linemen and tight ends without any issue. He did not take any snaps in one on one work.

New regime with #Bills wasted no time trading a player that they didn't draft. Peterman better fit for Rick Dennison's WCO.

In the first individual compete period of practice the Cowboys offense won all three matchups. Dak Prescott opened with a deep connection to Terrance Williams on Nolan Carroll.

With Cardale Jones being traded, pretty much assures rookie QB Nathan Peterman making #Bills roster. Would have beat out TJ Yates for #2 job

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton opens this session of team drills with a nice completion to Kelvin Benjamin over the middle. He comes right back and completes a pass to Devin Funchess on a similar crossing route. Opens this series 4-4. No sign of being limited thus far.

The Bills have traded QB Cardale Jones to the Chargers for a conditional draft pick, the team announced. A source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that it is a seventh-round pick. The trade is not a surprise after Jones, the Bills' fourth-round pick in 2016 and former national champion at Ohio State, had limited reps this spring. The Bills enter training camp with veteran T.J. Yates as their No. 2 quarterback and 2017 fifth-round pick Nathan Peterman as their developmental No. 3 quarterback.

Sean Payton said Drew Brees had the top time or one of the two best times in Wednesday's conditioning test. The 38-year-old is certainly not showing signs of his age physically. ... Payton said RB Adrian Peterson also came into camp in great shape. Payton did say that one player failed to pass the conditioning test and will be placed on the PUP list -- but he wouldn't reveal which player.

Dak to Brice Butler on the first day of full pads in Oxnard.

It wouldn't be a Cowboys camp if a quarterback didn't have a back issue. Backup Zac Dysert is not practicing because of a sore back.

Sean Payton said LB Dannell Ellerbe's release came down to "availability." Ellerbe missed 17 games over the last two years because of various minor injuries and was expected to miss the first couple weeks of training camp with a foot issue. Payton said there is value in moving on from the uncertainty and giving the practice reps to other players who could use the development.
