Mike McCarthy said if Aaron Rodgers is indeed able to shed the knee brace after the bye, "it definitely gives (him) more free range, but those are medical decisions. We'll just see where it is. I'm sure he's anxious to get that brace off."

Despite the Cardinals starting 1-5 record, rookie quarterback Josh Rosen is still optimistic about the future of his team: "I think that the positive of this whole situation is the fact that we are a really good football team not playing very well as opposed to a not very good football team playing to its absolute potential. Hopefully, we're at our floor and there's only up to go from here as opposed to having a low ceiling and being right at it.”

Rams owner Stan Kroenke released the following statement on the passing of Paul Allen: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Paul Allen. He was a visionary whose generosity and technological advances will continue to have an impact around the world. Paul was a great partner across the NFL, NBA and MLS, and his thoughtfulness and conviction served as a guiding force to better these leagues and sports. On behalf of my family and our entire organization, our thoughts are with Paul's family, as well as the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders, and Portland Trailblazers organizations.”

Linebackers coach Brian Flores, who is coordinating the Patriots' defense, described his view of the unit through six games. "I'd say we've played how we wanted to play in pockets," he said. "I thought the first half (against the Chiefs) was a great example of that and we had some success. We've just got to do a good job of just playing more consistent."

Aaron Rodgers had his fifth straight game with at least 40 pass attempts — a streak that is now two games shy of tying the single-season record held by Drew Bledsoe (1995), according to ESPN Stats & Information. Before this streak, Rodgers had never thrown that many passes in more than three straight games. Rodgers was 25-of-46 for 425 yards and two TDs. Here's the offensive snap count breakdown from Monday night's 33-30 win over the 49ers:

For all the issues in the secondary, it was a blitz by Ha Ha Clinton-Dix that set up Kevin King's last-minute interception — the first of his two-year career. Here's the defensive snap-count breakdown, which shows the entire starting secondary played every play in Monday night's 33-30 win over the 49ers:

Pete Carroll, on 710 ESPN Seattle, said of the passing of Seahawks owner Paul Allen: "It's a shock of enormous proportion. We knew that Paul was sick, but he had always battled and been so gritty about getting back. His attitude when I last talked to him was, 'Here we go. We're going to go after it again and I've got the right doctors and we're going to get this thing knocked out again.' And just the same spirit he always had about just moving forward and always keeping moving. He was bigger than life. There wasn't anything he couldn't do, so it was a big shock. I can sense around us and … around the community, everybody is really taking this to heart because he was such an extraordinary person and had such an extraordinary impact on so many."

The Jets today are working out former Titans WR Rishard Matthews, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. With Quincy Enunwa (ankle), Terrelle Pryor (groin) and Charone Peake (hamstring) dealing with injuries, the Jets are down to three healthy receivers. Matthews, 29, played three games with the Titans this season (three catches, 11 yards), but requested his release because he was unhappy with his number of targets. It was granted. He has 228 career catches for 3,147 yards and 21 touchdowns.
