Mike D'Antoni says Ryan Anderson (ankle) will play in Game 3. Plan is to get him back in a groove, no real plan to limit his minutes per D'Antoni because "we got so many guys I think that'll be automatic."

Tom Thibodeau reiterating the need for Karl Anthony Towns to "trust the pass" when fighting through Houston's double teams and constant, aggressive switching. "He has to know where the help is coming from. It's coming from the baseline. Trust the pass...get the ball out, move it and then you have to move."

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski is back at Gillette Stadium as part of his business interests with Monster Energy and Supercross. He deflected questions about his football future, but as usual, is having lots of fun.

A strong argument could be made that the 49ers' greatest need on the roster is a top-level edge rusher. Because teams generally don't let those types of players hit the open market, they must be found in the draft. After NC State's Bradley Chubb, this isn't the year to do that, according to Mel Kiper Jr.: "The worst position in the draft is pass rushers, be it defensive end or be it outside linebacker," Kiper said. "It's just a terrible position... there's just not that defined first or second round pass rusher outside of Bradley Chubb and he's in a league of his own. Then you get to (Marcus) Davenport and then you get to (Harold) Landry and then I think (Uchenna) Nwosu would be there right with Landry. I think they're the best pass rushers and they may get bumped up a little bit because there's hardly anything at that position this year."

OLB Anthony Chickillo is back with the Steelers for 2018. He's signed his $1.907 M restricted tender, according to a source. Key rotational pass rusher with 3.0 sacks last year is back in the fold. Pro Football Talk was the first to report.

Jets daily draft nugget: NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said yesterday he "wouldn't be surprised at all" if the Jets pick Baker Mayfield. But that doesn't mean Mayock would endorse that decision. He said his top-rated QBs are Sam Darnold and Josh Allen. Some league insiders believe the Jets' choice could come down to Mayfield or Josh Rosen. Said Mayock: "I don't have either of them rated that highly."

The Jets have exercised the fifth-year option for DL Leonard Williams, they announced — one of the easiest decisions they've ever had to make.
