Panthers coach Ron Rivera said there is no concern that Pro Bowl DT Kawann Short won't be back for the Sept. 8 opener at Denver. Short has missed three straight days of practice with an undisclosed soreness. Rivera said Thursday's preseason finale against Pittsburgh could be the Joe Webb Show at quarterback. He said backup Derek Anderson, who hasn't practiced this week because of soreness, will be the emergency QB in case something happens to Webb. In other words, don't plan on seeing Cam Newton in the game at all.
