The first-team defense might have just had its best four-play spell of camp. They pressured Dak Prescott into three straight throwaways and then forced him to scramble on the fourth snap.

Overheard on Monday: "I think he's doing well, especially as a rookie. Vic Fangio's defense is not easy to pick up, but he hasn't had many mental errors, which is encouraging." -- Bears safety Quintin Demps on rookie Eddie Jackson.

Monday's injury report: Bears running back Jordan Howard returned to practice after scratching his eye last week. Defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard was held out with a glute injury.

Some defensive players, including Sean Lee and DeMarcus Lawrence, did not appear happy with Dez Bryant after he flipped the ball at cornerback Nolan Carroll in compete drills. Carroll would have been called for a hold on the play, but the players did not like Bryant's reaction.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians called former Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin, who announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday after 14 years in the league, a "fierce competitor." Arians cited Boldin's quick return from a fractured sinus in 2008 as an example. "Anytime I think of Quan it's just everybody said he couldn't do it, too slow, this or that, was a quarterback, all that. He's way up there in the stats for the great ones but just an unbelievable competitor."

Perhaps we just saw Cooper Rush getting some second-team work. On the second period of team drills, Rush got the snaps instead of Kellen Moore but it was not clear if it was the second team or not. In every team period while in Oxnard, Moore always followed Dak Prescott. Today, Moore took the No. 2 snaps in the team run/play action period after Prescott, but Rush took the third-down work after Prescott.

Statement from the Jets: "The New York Jets organization is very proud that Woody Johnson was officially sworn in today as ambassador of the United States of America to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As previously announced, Christopher Johnson has taken over the role of New York Jets chairman and CEO."

The Bills did not make any transaction involving Anquan Boldin on Monday. Their roster remains at 90 players. Boldin announced his retirement Sunday evening.

The Eagles traded offensive lineman Matt Tobin and a 2018 seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Seattle's 2018 fifth-round pick. A four-year vet, he started 13 games at guard for the Eagles in 2015. He was working mostly as a reserve tackle in training camp.

Tobin can play RT, LT, G. Would expect Tobin to get a shot to get reps at LT. Both teams talked over the weekend after Fant got hurt.

The fan reaction when Jason Witten arrives for training camp practice. Maybe Dak Prescott had a louder ovation but not sure.

The Seahawks' initial choice to replace George Fant at left tackle appears to be Rees Odhiambo, Pete Carroll indicated after practice. The team wants to keep Luke Joeckel at left guard, but Carroll said Joeckel could move over to tackle if necessary. The other name to keep an eye on is Ethan Pocic. The second-round pick could get a shot at left tackle, Carroll said. And obviously, the team could explore adding a left tackle who's currently on another roster in the weeks ahead.
