Thoughts on the first half: UCLA's Josh Rosen outplayed USC's Sam Darnold. At halftime, NFL scouts were buzzing about Rosen's arm talent. He made several NFL-type throws. Darnold impressed with his ability to move in the pocket and extend plays, but he threw an interception (overthrow) and showed a lack of game awareness on a half-ending scramble.

Sam Darnold was ruled down before fumbling, but that's still a ding against him in the eyes of NFL scouts. His ball security should be the one major concern about his ability to succeed at the next level.

A bird's eye takeaway on Jets GM Mike Maccagnan: He's thorough and takes a lot of notes. I️ watched him on the field during the pre-game warmups at USC-UCLA. He watched both teams closely from the sideline, scribbling a lot into a notebook — more than the other NFL talent evaluators on the scene.

The Jets might have more reps at USC-UCLA than any other team: GM Mike Maccagnan, VP of personnel Brian Heimerdinger and a scout. The focus, of course, is the two quarterbacks — Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen.

Pete Carroll was making no declarations on strong safety Kam Chancellor, who's dealing with a neck injury. "We're still looking at what our options are and we'll continue to do that and evaluate what's going on," he said. Running back Eddie Lacy (groin) is on track to play after missing last week's game but nothing definitive from Pete Carroll on left tackle Duane Brown (ankle) and defensive tackle Jarran Reed (hamstring). He said both will be game-time decisions but said Reed got some "pretty good work" in at practice today.

The Los Angeles Coliseum, two-plus hours before Sam Darnold vs. Josh Rosen. Twenty NFL teams, including the Jets and Giants, are credentialed for the battle of the top quarterbacks.

The Jaguars have downgraded LG Patrick Omameh (quad), RT Jermey Parnell (knee) and LB Blair Brown (hamstring) to out and they will not play against Cleveland on Sunday. Jaguars without two starting offensive linemen.

Pete Carroll on Kam Chancellor: "We're still looking at what our options are and we'll continue to do that and evaluate what's going on. We're working very closely with him on that." Asked if there's concern it could be more serious than a season-ending injury, Carroll said, "We'll wait and see."
