The Cowboys have reached a deal with veteran offensive lineman Byron Bell on Friday, according to sources, giving them some flexibility in their search for Doug Free's replacement at right tackle. Bell has started 72 games in his career with most of them coming at right tackle. Free informed the Cowboys before free agency began that he intended to retire.

It's not just FOX in pursuit of Cowboys QB Tony Romo; it's also CBS making a strong push to add him to its team, per sources.

The Bengals are re-signing defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry, his agents announced today. Gilberry rejoined the team late in the season.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan declined to say if they will exercise the fifth-year option for former first-round S Calvin Pryor. His play regressed last season after a promising 2015, and the team likely won't pick up the option, which would be about $7 million in 2018 salary (guaranteed for injury only).

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan said it's "highly unlikely" they will add another veteran QB, but he didn't rule out drafting one. He declined to say if McCown will go into camp as the starter -- he deferred to Todd Bowles -- but, "I still think he has some good football left in him." Reading between the lines, it sounds like Christian Hackenberg will get a chance to compete for the job.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Bucs defensive end Jacquies ?Smith is on a visit with the 49ers right now. The Bucs gave him an original round tender (under $1.8 million) so they could sign him without draft pick compensation (was an UDFA)?. He is coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in the season opener in 2016.

Jabrill Peppers said he understands questions about him as a safety because there is little tape there. One team told him they saw him at LB and one on offense. He met with Tampa today, New Orleans and Arizona yesterday and has "23" visits set up.

I'm told that Cardinals inside linebackers coach Larry Foote was putting Paul Magloire through position drills at Arizona's pro day today. He ran an unofficial 4.55 in the 40, 25 reps on the bench, 9'11" on the broad jump.
