Panthers owner Jerry Richardson had been silent on Donald Trump's tweets and the reaction from players and ownership around the league until Monday afternoon. The organization was one of only two (Dallas was the other) that hadn't made a statement until Richardson released this: “We are proud of the men we have on this football team. Our players have been active and impactful participants in making our community stronger. From the first time I stepped into an NFL locker room at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore in 1959, I have lived and seen the sport's ability to bring people of all backgrounds together. Politicizing the game is damaging and it takes the focus off the greatness of the game itself and those who plays it.''

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

QB DeShone Kizer said the mood with the team is still positive despite the 0-3 start. "We're right where we want to be. We just don't have the Ws to support it."

Mike Reiss ESPN Staff Writer

Statement from Bill Belichick: "I have immense respect and admiration for our players, for how they conduct themselves professionally as New England Patriots and for how they represent themselves, their families and community as men. I have coached football for over four decades and one of the greatest things about being in this environment is the diversity of people, backgrounds, viewpoints and relationships we are fortunate to experience. As with any large group of people, there is a variety of perspectives and opinions on many topics. Discussions occur between myself, individual players, groups and the entire team on an ongoing basis. They concern the team and other issues surrounding the team. I am going to keep the specifics of those conversations private. I will do what I feel is best for the team in my role as head coach and collectively, we will work together to find the best way to proceed."

The 49ers placed DE Tank Carradine on injured reserve on Monday. Carradine has a high ankle sprain that is expected to keep him out more than a month. Carradine could be one of the two players the Niners designate to return from injured reserve though they don't yet have to make that declaration. They added LB Mark Nzeocha from the Dallas practice squad to the roster to take Carradine's place.

Here's the deal on Lavonte David's ankle: It is a sprain. They went back and evaluated it. Instead of being a high ankle sprain, I'm told it's a medial sprain. That changes the recovery timetable to "week to week," I am told. So when Dirk Koetter said it wasn't as bad as they thought, he wasn't just talking about X-rays being negative.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

Jets injury update: X-rays for RB Matt Forte (toe), LB Josh Martin (ankle) and WR Charone Peake (ankle) came back negative, according to coach Todd Bowles. He provided no prognosis for each player. RG Brian Winters (abdomen), who didn't play yesterday, said he's feeling better, per Bowles. But he wouldn't speculate on his availability this week.

"I have a lot of respect for Jim, and Shady is very intelligent and I think if it needed to happen, they could probably have a conversation and see more eye-to-eye on the subject."

Several Jets players traced the roots of yesterday's win to halftime of their Week 2 loss to the Raiders. The Jets lost by 25 points after trailing by 11 at halftime in Oakland, but "there was a different type of energy" in the locker room, Leonard Williams said today. "That same passion has been with us since."

Vaughn McClure ESPN Staff Writer

Dan Quinn said he will send the hit Deion Jones was flagged for vs. Lions into the league to get clarity on if indeed was an illegal hit. Quinn thought Jones struck the offensive player like he's supposed to.

Mike Rodak ESPN Staff Writer
