Today's Chiefs rookie camp roundup: Undrafted rookie quarterback JR Nelson was the star in the rainy, 1 1/2-hour practice session. Nelson made two interceptions on deep passes, including one from by Patrick Mahomes II that he had to dive for in order to make the catch. Even when not throwing against Nelson, the passing game again struggled when veteran tight and Travis Kelce wasn't the intended receiver. The Chiefs completed 9-of-25 passes in 7-on-7 drills, following an 11-for-26 performance on Tuesday. Kelce had four of the couches in today's session, including two in the end zone. The three-day camp for rookies, quarterbacks and veterans coming off injuries concludes Thursday when the remainder of the roster reports to training camp. But Kelce and two other veterans who have participated in the first two sessions, quarterback Alex Smith and linebacker Derrick Johnson, will be excused by coach Andy Reid.
