"As a head football coach, that's what you're paid to do, is to be making sure that the calls that go into the game, are basically approved by you as the head football coach," O'Brien said. "So none of that matters. I don't even know why that's a story. It's not a story. Nothing has changed."

Jamaal Charles will be listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh on the Chiefs' final injury report of the week. While it doesn't guarantee Charles will play in Pittsburgh, it does represent progress. He was listed as doubtful on the final injury report in each of the past three games and he didn't play.

Saints practiced outdoors Friday in some San Diego-like weather (meaning cooler than usual in New Orleans). Sean Payton said he felt like the team's response in practice was good this week after an 0-3 start and first double-digit loss on Monday night.

Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant expressed regret as to how he handled his two-day absence from the team earlier in the week. He said he is day to day with his tibial plateau fracture in his right leg but he would play it safe in determining when he would play again.

For the Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Friday tight end Virgil Green and right tackle Donald Stephenson have been ruled out of Sunday's game in Tampa. Both have calf injuries. Ty Sambrailo is expected to start at right tackle and John Phillips will start at tight end.

The Browns could be down two cornerbacks in Washington. Joe Haden (groin) was limited Friday and is questionable, and Tramon Williams (shoulder) is doubtful.
