The Saints finally stopped the Falcons' momentum with a 57-yard field goal by Wil Lutz as time expired in the first half – but it's been a pretty rough night otherwise as they trail the Falcons 28-17. Stunningly, Atlanta WR Julio Jones doesn't have a catch yet, but the Falcons have still churned out 216 yards. And they drew a very costly 25-yard PI flag against Saints rookie CB Ken Crawley on third down to keep a 94-yard TD drive alive in the final two minutes.

Drew Brees averaged 4.7 yards per pass attempt in the first half. That is his fifth-lowest average in a first half over the past five seasons (2012-16). The Saints lost the other four games and trail this one, 28-17.

Julio Jones without a catch on four targets but Falcons still lead Saints 28-17 at halftime. Matt Ryan found Justin Hardy for touchdown that was confirmed after review. Falcons getting production all around. Tevin Coleman with two touchdown runs and Devonta Freeman with a touchdown catch. Only helps in the long run when Falcons can get it done without Julio.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher called Todd Gurley's 16-yard run on Sunday "one of the better runs I've seen in the last 20 years." Asked about getting him going consistently, Fisher said: "I said last week he was really close. If you watch it, he's really close. He was even closer than really close. We're fine there. We'll be all right. ... The hundred-yard games and those kind of things, they'll come."

Alex Mack is fun to watch and a great, stabilizing addition to the Falcons' offensive line. He was well downfield searching out defenders on that play a moment ago. Mack was the top signing in free agency this past offseason, in my opinion.

Falcons have a shot at the double dip: points before the half and getting the ball to start 3rd quarter

Another TD run for Tevin Coleman on the inside zone scheme. With the outside linebacker left unblocked -- and slow to close to the ball -- Coleman can bend the run back to space. It's now a 21-14 Falcons lead over the Saints.

Tevin Coleman with his second TD on a 2-yard run. This two-back system with Devonta Freeman working to perfection. All three scores by the backs. Falcons lead 21-14.

Yes it's vs Saints... but the changeover on Falcons OL is really paying off
