Pete Carroll on RB Thomas Rawls: "We're still a couple weeks away. We won't know until he starts to do the workload and all of that. But now we've got to get him in shape again and get him right. And we'll take our time doing that so that once he's back, he'll hopefully be coming back for good." Rawls suffered an injury to his fibula in Week 2.

Frank Clark is the most logical option to replace Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett. That role entails playing DE in the Seahawks' base defense and swinging inside to tackle in sub packages. Clark has 4.5 sacks on the season and has looked good rushing the passer, which will obviously be key against Drew Brees.

On his radio show Thursday night, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Robert Ayers hinted at a possible return this weekend, talking about how much he was looking forward to finally playing at home. If he does, in fact, play, don't expect it to be extensive action.

In a bit of a surprise, Seahawks DE Michael Bennett (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints. Safety Kam Chancellor (groin) has been ruled out as well and will miss his third straight game. Bradley Sowell (knee) is also out, and WR Tyler Lockett (thigh) is questionable. Russell Wilson (pec/knee) was taken off the injury report and is expected to start.

Saints LT Terron Armstead told reporters that he will play Sunday against the Seahawks after practicing Friday. That's huge for the Saints, since Armstead is one of the most valuable players on their roster -- and because Seattle's pass rush is so imposing. But Armstead is still clearly less than 100 percent as he recovers from a lingering knee injury.

Saints DT Nick Fairley was fined $9,115 for his personal foul penalty against Chiefs RB Spencer Ware last Sunday when he tossed him to the ground away from the play. The penalty was even costlier to the Saints since it gave Kansas City a first down instead of a third-and-long with under three minutes remaining in a three-point game.

Randall Cobb, Ty Montgomery, Clay Matthews and T.J. Lang all questionable for Sunday at Atlanta. As expected, Quinten Rollin joins Damarious Randall as out.

Under NFL rules, the Bills are required to fill their open 53-man roster by 4 PM on Saturday because OT Michael Ola and CB Marcus Roberson are signed to the Bills' practice squad under an exception given their NFL playing experience.

Starting cornerback Phillip Gaines will play for the Chiefs on Sunday against the Colts after missing most or all of the past three games because of soreness in his knee. Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz hasn't missed a snap in his NFL career of four-plus seasons but is listed on the final injury report of the week was questionable for the Colts game.

Mike Reiss ESPN Staff Writer

Patriots TE Martellus Bennett, who is questionable with an ankle injury, did not practice on Friday. He is coming off a 1-catch, 5-yard game.
