Takeaway on Sam Darnold vs Josh Rosen: As a pure passer, Rosen is ahead of Darnold. Rosen made some crazy throws that had scouts buzzing. Darnold can do things that Rosen can't — ie making plays with his feet. Both made critical errors in scoring territory but their NFL traits were obvious. It'll be fascinating if both players declare for the draft.

Thoughts on the first half: UCLA's Josh Rosen outplayed USC's Sam Darnold. At halftime, NFL scouts were buzzing about Rosen's arm talent. He made several NFL-type throws. Darnold impressed with his ability to move in the pocket and extend plays, but he threw an interception (overthrow) and showed a lack of game awareness on a half-ending scramble.

Sam Darnold was ruled down before fumbling, but that's still a ding against him in the eyes of NFL scouts. His ball security should be the one major concern about his ability to succeed at the next level.

There are 30 scouts from 20 NFL teams and 1 CFL team at tonight's Josh Rosen-Sam Darnold, UCLA-USC game now on ABC.

A bird's eye takeaway on Jets GM Mike Maccagnan: He's thorough and takes a lot of notes. I️ watched him on the field during the pre-game warmups at USC-UCLA. He watched both teams closely from the sideline, scribbling a lot into a notebook — more than the other NFL talent evaluators on the scene.

The Jets might have more reps at USC-UCLA than any other team: GM Mike Maccagnan, VP of personnel Brian Heimerdinger and a scout. The focus, of course, is the two quarterbacks — Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen.

Pete Carroll was making no declarations on strong safety Kam Chancellor, who's dealing with a neck injury. "We're still looking at what our options are and we'll continue to do that and evaluate what's going on," he said. ESPN and the NFL Network report that Chancellor will likely miss the rest of the season.
