In his pre-draft press conference, Chargers GM Tom Telesco addressed an earlier report by Sports Illustrated that Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield did not spend as much time on his team's playbook in preparation for a meeting with Chargers' brass because the draft prospect had to prioritize other teams with a higher pick: "I'm probably not prepared to comment on that," Telesco said, smiling. "My plate's pretty full."

This is a no-brainer but the Panthers plan to pick up the fifth-year option on linebacker Shaq Thompson, a league source confirmed. Thompson is the long-term replacement for Thomas Davis. The option was first reported by Ian Rapoport.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan was more tight lipped than usual today in his pre-draft session with reporters. He wouldn't confirm the obvious (they will draft a quarterback) and he wouldn't give any details on how they evaluate the quarterbacks. He wouldn't even comment on the importance of hand size when evaluating quarterbacks, saying it could tip their ... well, hand. Chances are, it'll be a Baker Mayfield-Josh Rosen decision. Some key people in the organization prefer Mayfield, but Rosen has some support as well.

The Patriots had free-agent offensive linemen Ulrick John (Packers) and Sebastian Tretola (Titans) in for workouts on Monday. With rosters at 90 players, the team has room to explore more depth at different spots. John has appeared in 10 career games (3 starts) and Tretola has appeared in one. John entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Colts in 2014 out of Georgia State, while Tretola was a sixth-round pick of the Titans in 2016 out of Arkansas.

Davon House's one-year deal with the Packers is for $1.005 million. It's simple: There's a $90,000 signing bonus and a $915,000 base salary. The $90k signing bonus is the maximum for a team to still get the minimum salary benefit for the salary cap.
