Mayor of Inglewood, James T Butts says adding a basketball arena for the Clippers could delay the opening of the Rams football stadium in Inglewood by at least 18 months. "To introduce another element in it would require city approval and an EIR (environmental impact report) and that would set the project back by 18 months to two years, Butts told ESPN. "To add a basketball arena in there would stop everything right now."

The 49ers continued a busy Friday by agreeing to terms on a four-year contract with DT Earl Mitchell. Mitchell will be expected to help bolster a run defense that was worst in the NFL and in franchise history a year ago.

Former Miami Dolphins' DT Earl Mitchell plans to sign with 49ers, per league source. Big pickup before league year begins.

Despite being shut out in compensatory picks for the fourth straight year -- hey, that means they are doing something right in free agency, no? -- the Raiders are still scheduled to have eight draft picks come April, barring trades. Here, courtesy of ESPN Stats & Information, are Oakland's picks,

The league gave the Browns four compensatory draft picks, but the team has traded two away -- a third-round pick for LB Jamie Collins and a fourth-round choice in the Eagles trade involving Carson Wentz. The Browns now have extra fourth- and fifth-round picks, giving them 11 total.

The Seahawks got good news Friday as the NFL awarded them two third-round compensatory picks (Nos. 102 and 106 overall). Last offseason, the Seahawks lost starters Bruce Irvin, Russell Okung, Brandon Mebane and J.R. Sweezy in free agency. They signed journeymen offensive linemen J'Marcus Webb and Bradley Sowell. The two additional selections give Seattle five picks in the first 106 and three picks in the third round.

The 49ers signed wide receiver DeAndre Carter to a two-year deal on Friday. Carter has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2015. But he has not appeared in an NFL game. Carter does have some local ties as a native of San Jose who played collegiately at Sacramento State.

The Colts were given one compensatory pick Friday. The extra pick gives the Colts seven total picks in the April draft. They will pick 14th or 15th in the first round depending on a coin flip with Philadelphia next month.

No compensatory draft picks for the Saints -- but no surprise. Compensatory picks go to teams that lose more qualifying free agents than they sign. The Saints are almost always too active in free agency to qualify. Their 10 compensatory picks since 1994 are the fewest in the NFL. ... And spoiler alert: With the Saints poised to spend some money in free agency this year without losing many key free agents, they won't get any compensatory picks next year either.

The Miami Dolphins received three compensatory draft picks this year in the third and two fifth-rounders. Good haul by Miami. This brings the Dolphins' total up to seven picks in the NFL draft.

Tim McManus ESPN Staff Writer

The Eagles receive a fourth-round compensatory pick by way of the Browns as part of the Carson Wentz trade agreement. They now have two fourth-round picks and eight picks overall.
